This exhibition presents the history of shipbuilding and weapons manufacturing in the Sorel region. First, it gives an overview of the main shipyards that existed in the region before Marine Industries Limited was established.
Then, it shows how that company stood out for more than 50 years because of its prolific production of many kinds of ships and illustrates the technological challenges it overcame. Next, it covers the activities of the weapons plant at Sorel Industries Limited, from beginning to end. It also discusses the other equipment produced at the plant.
This exhibition highlights the boldness and perseverance of the Simard brothers as entrepreneurs, as well as the resourcefulness and dedication of the numerous workers who made an invaluable contribution to the success of their businesses.
