As the Biophare’s new activities team, Linda Bélisle and I want to develop a dynamic environment that can quickly adapt to change—especially in these uncertain times, when we never know what tomorrow might bring.

To deal with the pandemic, we’ve had to be very flexible. During the 2020 summer season, we adapted our activities for visitors and children attending day camps (these camps will be offered again in summer 2021).

While the museum was closed to the public, the Biophare team continued to be active and engaged, with an increased presence on online platforms. That’s when we decided to create videos exploring various topics directly or loosely connected to our institution and its mission. The first three educational videos were released in fall 2020 to replace the face-to-face activities for children that were planned as part of our fall series of events. We’ve now permanently adopted this practice and we’ll keep offering videos throughout the year—pandemic or no pandemic!

Educational videos (already released and upcoming)

First month of the year – January 9, 2021

Candlemas – February 6, 2021

Sugar season – March 6, 2021

April Fool! – April 1, 2021

Misunderstood plants – May 19, 2021

Food from the St. Lawrence – July 10, 2021

Indigenous vegetables – August 7, 2021

Walnut dye – September 4, 2021

*Dates are subject to change.

Our online videos can be accessed at any time after their release on our website under EDUCATIONAL VIDEOS.

We will be offering free conferences, if health restrictions permit, the first Sunday of each month thanks to a Quebec government program.

Upcoming conferences

André Côté – The coureurs des bois – March 7 (cancelled)

JiCi Lauzon – A musical nature excursion – May 2 (cancelled)

And of course, we’re preparing indoor and outdoor cultural activities for the 2021 summer season.

We look forward to seeing you!
